The Lone Grove girls never found a way to slow down Marlow’s Ashley O’Dell, who led the Outlaws to a 60-43 win over the Longhorns Saturday afternoon in the consolation championship game played at the Gary Scott Center.
O’Dell finished with 34 points, 17 in each half, and the Longhorns simply could not keep pace with the hot-shooting junior guard. She missed just four of her 22 shots from the floor, and her fellow Outlaws could claim plenty of credit getting the ball to her in high-percentage situations.
Marlow (5-5) took a 14-13 lead after the first period, but Lone Grove managed just three field goals in the second. Meanwhile, the Outlaws’ lead continued to build until the teams headed to intermission with Marlow holding a 32-23 lead.
The Outlaws went almost exclusively to O’Dell in the third. She scored 12 of Marlow’s 17 points in the frame. Heading into the fourth, the Outlaws were up 49-38.
No comeback would happen for the Longhorns, who managed to hit just 1-of-11 from the floor in the fourth with just five points to show for their work. Marlow scored 11 to pull away for the 17-point win.
Lone Grove (3-4) got a solid outing from sophomore forward Bailee Bruce, who finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Megan Garrison had 10 points for the Longhorns, and Hannah Ross chipped in nine.
