Ruth Thomasine Gibson, 68, of Madill, Oklahoma, passed away April 23, 2012, at the hospital in Durant, Oklahoma. She was born on July 7, 1943, to the late Joseph Augusta Lafontain and Phoebe Minnie Lacher Stribling LaFontain in Ardmore, Oklahoma.


Ruth Thomasine Gibson, 68, of Madill, Oklahoma, passed away April 23, 2012, at the hospital in Durant, Oklahoma. She was born on July 7, 1943, to the late Joseph Augusta Lafontain and Phoebe Minnie Lacher Stribling LaFontain in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

 

Ruth was raised in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and in 1960 moved to Madill where she lived the rest of her life. She worked at the Madill sewing factory and the Gibson’s nursing home. Ruth enjoyed bowling, watching football, the OU Sooners and the Young and the Restless. Her greatest joy was outdoor picnics with family and being with her grandchildren.

 

She is survived by: sons, Robert W. Gibson, Madill, Oklahoma, and Ricky Edward Gibson, Madill, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Shawna LeBlanc, Michael Gibson, Kris Freeman, Devin Gibson and Robyn Gibson; great-grandchildren, Zanthan LeBlanc, Treven LeBlanc, Makinzi Ashley, Mikah Gibson, Brylon Gibson and Austin Walling; nieces, Joan Shuman and Rise’ Jo Stribling; nephew, Thomas Lee Stribling; great-niece, Renee Carney, and relatives and friends: Josh and Michelle Jenkins, John Genn, Nick, Johnny and Teresa Carney, Georgina McKay, Mark Gibson, Brenda Wells, Donna Tucker, Shannon Gibson, Elmer Lynn Gibson, Joe and Barbara Gibson, Marvis Wiggens, Susie Gibson, Brittny Pichan, Paula Patterson, Regina Lee, Beverly LaRoache, June Benderman, Pamela Walkup Gibson and Wanda Gibson.

 

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Noah Lacher; sisters, Augusta (Lou) Genn and Pauline Marie Hawkins; brother, Frank L. Stribling; father-in-law, E.C. Gibson, mother-in-law, Willie Gibson; sister-in-law, Ardena Rutherford; and cousins, China Walters, Isabell Walters and Ida Walters.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a family hour from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m today at the Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Okla.

 

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012, at the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, Oklahoma.
Casket bearers: (Sonny) Charles Gibson, George Gibson, Ronald Gibson, Nephi LaFontain, John Genn and Eric Powell.
