Ardmore police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding early morning events that ended with a pedestrian being critically injured when she was run over by a car in a southwest side neighborhood.

Detective Darren Culley, Ardmore Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, is leading the inquiry that began shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday when patrol officers were called to the 1200 block of Hailey Street. Officers found a large crowd around a 20-year-old woman, who is reportedly pregnant, lying in the street.

“She was apparently run over and dragged a short distance,” said Sgt. Patrick James APD Patrol Division.

The victim was taken to the local hospital and later air lifted to an Oklahoma City medical facility where she was admitted in critical condition with multiple injures.

James said the preliminary investigation provided information the incident may have been the result of an earlier disturbance at a South Commerce Street club.

Culley was called in to take over the probe. He said late Saturday afternoon the investigation remain ongoing into whether the victim’s injuries are the result of an accident or an intentional act.

Anyone with information concerning the case is urged to contact Culley at police headquarters by calling (580) 223-1212.
