  • Ardmore High School will have a full pads football camp this week as a primer for a team camp Thursday at Piedmont.
Coach Douglas Wendel said the Tigers will suit up today, Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:30-9:30 a.m. before going to to Piedmont.
Throughout the summer, Ardmore has had summer pride workouts, but the pads camp will focus on fundamentals and individual positioning, according to Wendel. The team camp Thursday in Piedmont will be Ardmore’s last organized activity before Aug. 7, the first day of two-a-days practices.
“It’s the first time we’ve had one in a while and it’s an opportunity to get better so we’re gonna take it,” Wendel said.
Plainview’s summer pads camp will start Wednesday and run until Friday from 6-8:30 p.m. The Indians have been involved in a Monday night passing league in Durant since June 11.
Plainview coach Chris Berus said the passing camp has consisted of mostly freshman and sophomores the Indians are looking to develop.
The camps have included Dickson, Madill and Durant.
“It’s as good defensively as it is offensively,” Berus said of the passing camp. “You get to look at some of the kids you get to compete against during the season.
“It’s fun to go compete against some other folks, to keep that level of competition up.”
Dickson will be in half pads from 8-11 a.m. today through Wednesday
Dickson has attended passing camps in Pauls Valley and Durant this summer.
“We’ve had really good participation,” Dickson coach Jeremy Reed said. “We’ve had pretty much everyone there, minus when they go to church camp. We’ve had good attendance this summer.”
