Ardmore’s offense got out to a quick start, but lost steam after the first inning in game 1 against Lawton MacArthur, losing 20-4 in five innings. The Tigers fell 10-2 in game 2.
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Tigers went down 6-0 after the top of the first, but recovered with three runs in the bottom of the frame.
Brittany Harrison singled to drive in Destinee Howell from third, Katelyn Hartman brought in Autumn Bruner on a sacrifice groundout, and Kenysha Noland scored on an infield error.
Bruner and Harrison each had two hits for the Tigers. Bruner scored two runs — her second on a passed ball in the third inning for Ardmore’s final run.
Bruner started in the circle for Ardmore, with Hartman finishing the final four innings.
In game 2, Ardmore struck again in the first inning. Howell reached on a bunt single, stole second, and Bruner hit an RBI single. Harrison singled to drive in Bruner, who advanced to second on a groundout from Caden Ingram.
“We did come out and play better,” Ardmore coach Charli Crawford said. “I challenged them to not give up in the second game. We should have scored more runs than two.”
The Tigers (1-4) next play at Chickasha on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
