  • C-Leigh Butler provided a huge boost in the sixth inning with a bases-clearing double that helped propel Ringling past Healdton 8-6 Tuesday night in fastpitch softball action.
The big rip was part of a monster sixth inning for Ringling, who scored six runs to break a 2-2 tie and make a late comeback almost impossible.
“She was the catalyst,” Ringling coach Steve Pybas said. “That was a huge blow against Healdton.”
Though it knocked Healdton on its back, the Bulldogs nearly roared back to an improbable win in the top of the seventh, scoring four runs in a furious rally before Blue Devils pitcher Bailey Tolliver was finally able to retire the last batter and get her third win of the season in the circle. She struck out six while walking four and surrendering six hits.
“We got it together and put together a big inning when we needed to,” Pybas said. “These girls are starting to develop really well.”
Mikaela Blakemore was the big stick for the Healdton offense, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, while CeAnne Gossvener added a double.
Gossvener took the loss in the circle for the Bulldogs.
