Graveside services for Jewell Dye Evans, 94, of Grady, Oklahoma, will be 2 p.m. today at the Grady Cemetery with Brother J.W. Ray officiating.

 

Jewell was born, September 24, 1917, in St. Jo, Texas, to William and Velma May Dye, she departed this life on August 21, 2012, at her home in Grady, Oklahoma.

 

Jewell grew up in Oscar and went to work for Clyde Seay, where she kept house and helped raise his children. She married Orbie Cecil Evans on July 9, 1937, by the Justice of the Peace.

 

Jewell loved being a homemaker and was very active in the community and church doing whatever she could to help out in any capacity. She also enjoyed gardening and supplying fresh vegetables for her family and friends, and did so as long as her health would allow.

 

She loved her church and her church family where she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ringling, Oklahoma.

 

Jewell was loved by many and is going to be greatly missed.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, O.C. Cecil Evans; and sisters, Inez Dye and Pauline Dye Miller.

 

She is survived by three sisters, Willie Ruth Dye Bunch, Hazel Louise Dye Eremento, both of Louisville, Texas, and Elsie Juanita Dye Wallace of Panama City, Florida; three stepdaughters, Orbie Smith of Waurika, Oklahoma, Erma Beth Cline of Montgomery, Alabama, and Helen Cain of San Antonio, Texas; nephews, Tim and Donna Smith, Joshua, Jacob and Macky Smith; nieces, Jenny and Mellissa Smith; and Kenneth Smith, best friend and companion; and numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

 

Pallbearers: Tim Smith, Macky Smith, Joshua Smith, Tim Arion and Lane Vaden.
