With all 14 precincts reporting in, Jon Smith received the Democratic nomination for Johnston County Sheriff. Smith received 788 (50.3 percent) votes to edge Sam Holt, who received 779 (49.7 percent). All results from Tuesday’s election are unofficial.

Smith, a former Johnston County Sheriff, will face Republican William Ray Dickerson in the general election on Nov. 6.

 

In primary runoffs for United States Representative, District 2, Markwayne Mullin was defeating George Faught for the Republican nomination. With 490 of 530 precincts reporting in, Mullin had received 11,038 (56 percent) votes to Faught’s 8,731 (44 percent) votes.

 

In the Democratic runoff, Rob Wallace had received 23,668 (57 percent) votes to lead Wayne Herriman, who had received 17,861 (43 percent) votes.
