Doris June Wilson, age 85, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Irving, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 13, 2012, in The Chapel at Griffin-Hillcrest with Pastor Patrick Wooten officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Doris was born on January 3, 1927, to Mr. Sam Jones and Mrs. Violet (Dobbs) Jones at Yukon, Okla. When she was 12 years old, her uncle moved her to Ardmore and she attended Plainview Schools where she met the love of her life, James. Doris and James dated for four years before marrying on October 31, 1953, at Gainesville, Texas. Doris, as a designer, and James both worked for Colvert Dairy Products in Ardmore before moving to Forest Grove, Oregon. She worked in a cannery and then at a golf course prior to relocating to Portland, Oregon, where she became a homemaker. In 1973, the family moved to Fort Worth, Texas, and they opened Wilson Motors. James and Doris worked together until they retired in 1993. During this time, they moved to Irving, Texas, where the couple have lived ever since.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jackie June Wilson; granddaughter, Cari Porter; and brothers; W.K. "Jack" Jones and Ted. P. Jones.
She is survived by her husband, James, of the home; grandson, Sean Palmer, of Greenville, Texas; grandson-in-law, Chris Porter; four great-grandchildren; brother, James Sam Jones, Jr., of Joplin, Missouri; sister, Margrette,of Elba, Alabama; and a multitude of church and community friends.
