Graveside services for Charles E. "Fatt" Stewart Sr., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012, at the Springer Cemetery with the Rev. David Gardner officiating. Family visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Charles was born April 19, 1938, at Springer, to Richard James and Amie O'Dell Royal Stewart. He passed from this life on September 19, 2012, in Ardmore at the age of 74.
Charles graduated from Hinton High School in 1958 and has lived in this area the past 50 years. He retired from Atlas Roofing as a lab inspector after 27 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. Charles enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evening, gardening, sports especially OU and watching the Texas Rangers. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and was known as "Uncle Fatt" to his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Amie; brothers, Daryl, John Junior and James "BeBBo" Stewart; and sisters, Joyce Marie Houchin, W. Pearl King and Judy Carolyn Stewart.
Charles is survived by his sons, Charles E. Stewart Jr., and his wife, Cherryl of Lone Grove, and Brandon Thompson of Ardmore; daughters, Gina Marie Miller and husband, John of Lone Grove, and Christine Stewart of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brothers, Kenneth and Lonnie Stewart of Lone Grove, Carson Stewart of Binger, Okla., and Joe Stewart of Modesto, Calif.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Marlon Stewart, Josh Stewart, Colton Stewart, Jacob Stewart, Matthew Stewart, Brandon Altstatt and Shannon Houchin.
