The University of Oklahoma volleyball team fell to No. 9 Texas Saturday night at Gregory Gymnasium in three sets (3-0; 18-25, 14-25, 10-25). With the loss, Oklahoma drops to 12-4 on the year and 1-1 in Big 12 competition.
It is the first loss for the Sooners in six matches, as they had caught wins over No. 19 Kentucky and No. 11 Kansas State before they faced the Longhorns in a streak that began on Sept. 7 at the Ameritas Player Invitational.
"Texas is a very talented team - they are a top-10 team - and they showed that tonight," OU coach Santiago Restrepo said. "They're blocking ran the match."
The Longhorns totaled 13 blocks to the Sooners' three to control the tempo. It was the fourth match of the year that Oklahoma was out-blocked, and the third that has resulted in a loss.
