The State Board of Education in its regular monthly meeting Thursday heard an update on A-F School Report Card data verifications.
After a month-long review process, the grades for all schools are scheduled to be publicly released Oct. 8.
Maridyth McBee, assistant state superintendent of accountability and assessments, said her department has received 639 data verification forms asking for corrections or verifications from 315 schools. The majority of the verification requests, 59 percent, were about advanced course work, 18 percent of the requests were about school climate surveys, 11 percent were about parental involvement surveys, 5 percent were about student demographics and 4 percent were about attendance.
Today is the last day for districts to make data verification requests.
McBee said her staff will address each request before grades are publicly released Oct. 8.
Also, Executive Director of Teacher and Leader Effectiveness, Alicia Currin-Moore, reported to the board details from the Sept. 18 TLE Commission meeting. The commission made preliminary recommendations regarding the definition of other academic measures for teachers and for leaders, she said. The TLE Commission meets next from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 17.
Elaine Hutchison, the 2013 Teacher of the Year, was recognized. Hutchison is an Algebra II, trigonometry, pre-calculus and AP calculus teacher at Fairview High School and Chamberlain Middle School in the Fairview School District and at the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics Regional Center.
