  • Unauthorized use of the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System resulted in the temporary loss of its services and the termination of lead dispatcher Christine Carter.
Robert Oldham, Lone Grove Police Chief, said Carter was terminated Monday evening after meeting with him and city manager Ian O'Neal. An investigation revealed Carter allowed part-time dispatcher Garrett King to use her number to log into the system. Carter also gave false information regarding King's usage of her login number during an OLETS audit two months ago.
"It has evidently been going on for a while," Oldham said. "Anybody we hire is given a temporary number and they have to work with an OLETS supervisor. They are also supposed to go to a school and she (Carter) failed to enroll him in the school.
"During the investigation, it was learned King was logging in using her number. It was also learned he had done nothing wrong as he was directed to use that number by her."
Oldham also said during the OLETS audit, Carter stated that when King was working, she was there as well which was not the case.
The city's system was suspended Saturday afternoon when OLETS suspected someone was using another person's log in number. Oldham contacted OLETS and the system was turned back on Saturday afternoon. OLETS turned the system back off Monday morning pending an investigation. The investigation was concluded Monday afternoon and the results were forwarded to OLETS, which turned the system back on Tuesday morning.
OLETS provides criminal justice information during a traffic stop and notifies officers of outstanding warrants and other legal information.
Oldham said the report has been forwarded to the district attorney's office. Currently, Shannon Clark is serving as the temporary lead supervisor with Sgt. Brandon Godwin overseeing the department and getting things back on track.
