Ardmore man dies in single vehicle crash

An Ardmore man died Friday night in a single vehicle crash 1/2 mile south of Deer Creek on U.S. Highway 77.

James Gunsolus, 37, died from massive injuries at the scene of the 8:25 p.m. crash, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Crash reports said Gunsolus was driving a 2004 Dodge northbound when the car ran off the road to the left from an unknown reason. Overcorrection sent the car off the road to the right where it hit a fence and then a steel utility pole. Gunsolus was pinned for about an hour before being freed by Springer firefighters.

Cause of the crash remains under investigation.
