Funeral services for Roger Dale Linehan, 63, of Springer, Okla., will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Centennial Chapel in Ardmore, Okla., conducted by Gary Shephard. Burial will follow at McMillian Cemetery.
Born on October 9, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas, Dale passed from this life on October, 5, 2012. He was preceded in death by his father, Orbie Marcellus; and twin sister, Gayle.
Dale was born a Texan, but moved to Oklahoma as a teenager and lived in the Valliant area until retirement. He worked for the railroad for 37 years, retiring in 2008.
Dale served in the Vietnam War in the US Army. As a result of his time in Vietnam, Dale gained a family member, Tim Miller (Dona) of Mercer, Pa. Dale was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club and his passion was serving and honoring all POW's and MIA's.
To know Dale was to love him. His favorite punch line to a joke, with a smile, was "Sometimes I lie." He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Bean Linehan; mother, Dorothy of Pooleville, Texas; daughter, JoAnn Cummings of Valliant, Okla.; son, Roger Dale Jr. and wife, Lori of Chico, Calif.; brothers, Bob and Lloyd of Valliant, and Will of Pooleville; sisters, Genie Bradly and husband, Eddie of Poolevillle, Michelle Winters and husband, John Bryant of Comanche, Okla.; numerous grandchildren, nephew, nieces and a host of friends.
Pallbearers are Raymond Slaton, Shane Richardson, Justin Linehan, Eddie "He-Him" Griffin, Frank "Hornet" Horner, Joe "Bobwire" Nance, Michael "Bomb" Bombei and Dennis "Skeeter" Green. Honorary pallbearers are the Vietnam Legacy Vet Motorcycle Club.
