The Ardmore Tree Board and the Ardmore Beautification Council, in partnership with the Ardmore Parks and Recreation Department, will offer free trees starting at 5 p.m. in south parking lot at Ardmore Regional Park, located 2704 N. Rockford Road.
“Maple, Redbud, Chinese pistache, Oak and Elm have been ordered,” said Sandi Blehm, ATB chairman. “Volunteers will be in place to assist people in selecting their trees, but recipients will load their own trees, and need to bring tarps and tie downs so the plants can travel securely.
Approximately 800 trees will be available. The trees will be in 3-5 gallon buckets, approximately 5-feet tall, and 3/4to 1-inch in diameter.
“Hundreds of trees have been provided to residents in our part of the state through this program,” said ABC executive director Norma Lynne Paschall. “After two years of drought, many people are looking for ways to acquire new trees for their landscapes. All species we will have available will be excellent plants for our climate. Information will be provided to assist the new owners in proper planting and care techniques for their trees.” The trees are available to municipalities, churches, schools, residents, chambers of commerce and businesses. T here is no paper work to fill out, but those interested are encouraged to arrive early.
