  • Lula (Marris) Parker, age 91, passed away on October 9, 2012, at her home in Lone Grove, Okla., surrounded by her family. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2012, in The Chapel at Griffin-Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore, Okla., with grandson, the Reverend Randy Baptiste and great-grandson, the Reverend Vincent Baptiste officiating with interment to following in McAlister Cemetery, Overbrook, Okla.

  • Lula (Marris) Parker, age 91, passed away on October 9, 2012, at her home in Lone Grove, Okla., surrounded by her family. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2012, in The Chapel at Griffin-Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore, Okla., with grandson, the Reverend Randy Baptiste and great-grandson, the Reverend Vincent Baptiste officiating with interment to following in McAlister Cemetery, Overbrook, Okla.
    Lula was born on March 6, 1921, in Overbrook, Okla., to Arch Marris and Sallie (Farve) Marris.
    Lula loved to watch baseball games. Her favorite team was the Atlanta Braves. She also loved to listen to gospel music, especially the Choctaw hymns. She loved all animals. Lula was a member of the McAlister Baptist Church.
    Lula was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dolph Baptiste Jr.; and brothers, Ralph Marris, Bennett Marris, Leonard Marris and Christian Marris.
    She is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Rose Miller of Lone Grove, Okla., Yvonne Vansill and husband, Gerald of Gainesville, Texas, Angela Snyder and husband, Clarence of Anchorage, Alaska, and Shauana Hartman and husband, Phillip of Overbrook, Okla.; sons, Kenneth Ray Baptiste of Ardmore, Okla., Alden Williams of Mesa, Ariz., Aaron Williams and wife, Maria of Albuquerque, N.M., and Shay Miller of Lone Grove, Okla.; grandchildren, Angie and Arch Baptiste of Anchorage, Alaska, Ranai Baptiste of Magnolia, Kentucky, Randy and Raquel Baptiste, Rhonda Perez and Becky Nash of Ardmore, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Amber, Josh, Mariah, Trey, Vincent Baptiste, Jeron Booker, Nathan and Noah Conn, Timberly Hartman, Amanda Holybee, Slade Kendrick, Easton and Weston Miller, Aaron, Chase and Aaralyn Perez, Tylen White, Arianna and Philecia Williams; and sisters, Allie Johnson and husband, Jay of Ardmore, and Lela Cooper of Lone Grove.
    Serving as pallbearers will be Alden Williams, Aaron Williams, Shay Miller, Ranai Baptiste, Phillip Hartman, Slade Kendrick and Aaron Atkinson. Honorary bearers will be all of her nephews.
    A Prayer Service will be from 6 until 8 this evening in The Chapel at Griffin-Hillcrest.
