  • Ground was broken Oct. 17 for a 252-unit apartment complex in Thackerville. Tribal officials, local officials and area residents joined Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby at the groundbreaking.
The upscale apartment homes are the first phase of Central Park at WinStar Village. Other phases will include retail and dining options.
"These new apartments will help meet the growing need for affordable housing in the Thackerville area," Anoatubby said. "Central Park at WinStar Village will offer attractive, convenient housing options for WinStar employees and other Love County residents. We believe our investment in this community will have a positive impact on the local economy by attracting new businesses to the area."
The apartment community will be comprised of several two-story building with options of one, two and three bedroom apartments. A nine-acre park with a Central Park clubhouse and pool will sit in the middle of the apartment complex.
Bill Lance, CEO of Chickasaw Nation Division of Commerce, said the inspiration for the complex came from Central Park in New York and Place des Vosges, in Paris. Native stone will be used in the apartment home design.
"The continuation of certain architectural and design elements will bring completeness to the neighboring properties and provide a cohesive look to all three properties," Lance said.
