  • Memorial service for Cecil Leo (Lee) Newman, 74, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012, at the Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton, Oklahoma, with Earl Collins officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home, Healdton, Oklahoma.

    Lee, was born July 8, 1938, in Healdton, Oklahoma, to Sanford O. and Mildred Fryer Newman. Lee was raised in Healdton and graduated from Healdton High School in 1957. He passed from this life on October 28, 2012.
    Lee enlisted in the Navy in 1958 and was in Vietnam for 13 months; he was a patrol boat captain and was involved in 270 combat missions. He also, went eight times under enemy fire. Lee was awarded the Bronze Star medal for meritorious professionalism, courage under fire, devotion to duty, navy company commander. He went on to be a Navy recruiter when he retired in August 1977.
    Lee was an electrician for Uniroyal, Michelin from 1978 to 2000, (22) years, he then went to work for Lake Murray State Park for three years before retiring.
    Lee married Patricia Gryder, January of 2006, in Gainesville, Texas, making their home in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
    Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford O. and Mildred Fryer Newman; sister, Margaret Miller in 2001; brother, Sanford Newman Jr. in 2002; sister, Vinnie Vernell Spoon in 2002; and sister, Birdie Lou Collins in 2006; and one son, Floyd Ringer.
    Lee is survived by his wife, Patricia of the home; son, Keith Lee and wife, Andrea; grandsons, Michael, Nicholas and Xander Newman; granddaughters, Abagial Newman, Dalana Morris and Danielle Morris; stepson, Toby Morris, all of Ardmore; brother, Keith Dale of Wilson Nursing Home; sister, Millie Mildred Ann Brightwell of Staford, Va.; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of which he loved dearly.
