  • Latisha (Kootsie) Ann Gray went to be with the Lord November 2, 2012. She was born August 3, 1948, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to the late William Lee and Betty Ann Hill.
She graduated from Mannsville High School in 1966. She married Ernest Wade Gray on August 22, 1966, in Mannsville, Oklahoma. They spent the next year at the El Toro Marine Corp Base in Santa Ana, California. They returned to Mannsville where they have resided for the past 45 years. Kootsie worked, attended college at night, and graduated from SOSU in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in education. She later returned to SOSU and received a master's degree in reading. She has taught the past 36 years at Sulphur Elementary School.
She and Ernest had two daughters, Carey Lynn and Kelley Shawn. Kootsie and the girls made many great memories traveling with Ernest during the summer. Carey and Kelley spent many hours shopping with their mom. In later years, the joy of her life was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She attended many activities and was always their biggest fan, whether it was hot, cold, rain or shine. Kootsie enjoyed keeping her great-granddaughters on any given day. She was always quick to help anyone in need, especially children. She always put everyone first and never worried about herself. Her family thought she was the best wife, mother and nana ever.
Kootsie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ernest; children, Carey Lynn Gray and Kelley Gray and Tim Williamson; four grandchildren, Dillon Wade, Hailley Timber, Gatlin Todd and Meagan Kimber; great-grandchildren, Hayden Ashley and Dillaynie Shawn; two sisters, Twanda Hill and Bert Lummus and Diane and Ryan Bralley; two nieces, Courtney Bralley and Brittany Parker; nephew, Brandon Hill; and three great-nephews, Bralynn Culp, Logan and Kaden Musgrove.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gail Ann; parents; and brother, Johnie Hill.
