  • Eula Faye Boyte Hair, 91, was granted her wings on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. She spent her last days surrounded by the family whose lives she molded. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Faye was born on January 31, 1921, to Rube Boyte and Zelma Owen Boyte and was the second of five children.
She married George Milton Hair in 1940 and had three children. As he became a "building pastor," she became the quintessential pastor's wife, working with youth and teaching Sunday School at churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. Faye continued her ministry into her retirement at the Baptist Retirement Village outside of Madill, Okla. She was a woman of great faith who inspired many and was often considered a mentor to younger generations. Faye enjoyed life, family and many friends and was always there to brighten the lives of others. She spent her spare time gardening, sewing and carrying on her parents' tradition of dominoes.
She is now rejoined with her parents; all four siblings; and her husband of almost 50 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Dowers of Edmond, and Marsha Reynolds of Muskogee; son, Dr. Dennis Hair and wife, Holly of Norman; three grandchildren, Claire Dowers-Nichols and husband, Ron of Guthrie, Brianna Hair and Forrest Hair, both of Norman; stepgrandchildren, Jenifer and Junior Nichols; and adopted son, Dusty Turner.
Gifts of remembrance may be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Village Communities, Development Office, 3800 North May, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 9, at Oakview Baptist Church in Madill, Okla., and visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana, Texas. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m.Saturday, November 10, at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana, Texas.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "It is not the length of life, but the depth of life." Faye was a shining example of both who leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love.
