  • West C. Mack, 83, of Adrian, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012, at his home.

  • West C. Mack, 83, of Adrian, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012, at his home.
    He was born June 10, 1929, in Umbarbell, Arkansas, the son of Johnnie and Hattie (Pressberry) Mack.
    On February 24, 1951, he married Maggie Barksdale. They celebrated almost 50 years of marriage prior to her death in 2001.
    For the past 48 years, West has worked for Krieghoff. He enjoyed work so much, he never retired.
    West was a member of the Second Baptist Church where he served as a Senior Honorary Deacon. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf with the Best Yet Golf Club and the horse races. He was known as "Mr. West" to Jathon who looked forward to his candy deliveries.
    Survivors include his two daughters, Martha McKinney of Detroit, and Mary (Kenneth) Henagan Sr. of Adrian; his fiancée, Rhodie Henagan; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ernestine Mack of St. Louis, Mo., Izola Redman of Chicago, Leola Twiggs of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Dorothy Boyd of St. Louis, Mo., Bernice Mosley of Ardmore, Okla., Tiny Johnson of Wichita, Kan., Johnnie Bedell of Hazelwood, Mo., and Ann Allen of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; brothers, James Mack of Dayton, John Mack of Chicago, Robbie Rayford of St. Louis, Mo., Charles Rayford of Moberly, Mo., and Patrick Rayford of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his dog, Mr. Toby II.
    In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, West Jr., in infancy; a daughter, Marlene Adams; brother, the Rev. Willie Mack; and a sister, Martha Mack.
    Funeral services for West will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012, at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian, Michigan, with Pastor Russell Henagan Jr. officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and again Friday from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m.
