  • Class 2A No. 2 Davis and Class B No. 4 Fox are perfect and peaking entering the postseason.
The Wolves blasted through their district schedule with ease to enter the state playoffs at 10-0, extending the state's longest postseason streak to 29 years. Tonight, they'll host Comanche (5-5) at Wolf Field.
Behind a running game averaging 333 yards per game, Davis enters the playoffs unbeaten for the first time since 2009. Deaundre Carr leads the Wolves in rushing with 814 yards and 14 touchdowns, while quarterback Alec Hetherington has 10 touchdowns rushing and passing on the season.
Coach Jody Weber and the Wolves are in rare company. In addition to being one of just three area teams to enter the postseason with 10-0 records (Class 3A's Madill, Class B's Fox), Weber can also claim to have a perfect record to mirror his brother's at Ada.
Weber's brother, Matt, has guided Ada to a 10-0 record in Class 4A. Like Jody's team, Matt's Cougars are one of a handful of favorites for a state championship in his respective classification.
As for Fox, the Foxes are unbeaten entering the postseason for the first time in coach Brent Phelps' four-year tenure.
Fox, the District B-2 champion, enters tonight's game against Merritt (6-4) averaging 51.8 points per game. The Foxes' offense has been a balanced effort of run (234.3 yards per game) and pass (202.1).
Junior quarterback Taylor Townsend leads the Foxes in both categories, tossing for 1,966 yards and 34 touchdowns and rushing for 938 yards and nine scores.
