Funeral services for Barbara Shellenberger will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Ardmore, Oklahoma, with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7-8 this evening at Craddock Funeral Home.
Barbara was born June 17, 1930, in Wilson, Oklahoma, to F.T. "Jack" and Nan Allen Hughes. She passed from this life on November 11, 2012, in Ardmore, at the age of 82.
She married E. Earl Shellenberger Jr., on August 12, 1949, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He has preceded her in death. She returned to this area in January of 1981, previously living in Cortez, Colorado, Gillette, Wyoming, and Monahans, Texas. She worked as a bank teller, bookkeeper and a homemaker. Barbara enjoyed fellowship with her church family, spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling, shopping, baking pies, plus parties and reunions. Barbara was a generous and giving woman. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, F.T. "Jack" and Nan Hughes; husband, E. Earl Shellenberger; her husband's parents, Earl Sr., and Bonnie Shellenberger; brothers, Leonard and Harold; sister-in-law, Joyce; nephew, Kelly Hughes; and niece, Nancy.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Cathy Shellenberger of Ardmore; grandchildren, Courtney Bobsein and her husband, Ryan of Tulsa, Okla., Cassidy Langford of Dallas, Texas, Ryan Langford and his wife, Jessica, Michael Langford and Megan Shetterly of Ardmore; great-grandchildren, Caitlyne, Brooklyn and Coraline; two nieces, Mary Sue and Cynthia; four nephews, John, Jim, Sam and O.L. "Bud"; and two sisters-in-law, Juanita Hughes of Ardmore, and Edythe Loewen of Valley Center, Kansas; and sister, Marie O'Dell of Wilson, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Langford, Michael Langford, Eric Thayer, Ryan Bobstein, James O'Keeffe, John O'Dell, Jim O'Dell and Sam O'Dell. Honorary bearers will be F.A. "Butch" Shellenberger III, Ed Nowell, Ed Thayer and O.L. Towry.
