On November 27, 2012, Dora V. Patton Palmer, 95, left her living family to be with her heavenly family. Dora was born October 20, 1917, in Ardmore, Oklahoma the twelfth child Frank and Dora (Sullivan) Patton.
Dora was raised in Ardmore and worked as a housekeeper, maid and was also head cook at The Gourmet. She later married Leon Hurte and to that union three children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers and five sisters; a daughter, Burnetta Kirk; granddaughter, Patricia Wrenn; daughter-in-law, Barbra Hurte; a grandson, Harold Ray Kirk; great-grandsons, Johnathan Wrenn and Ricky Smith. Leaving to cherish her memory is her daughter, Leola Wrenn; sons, Billy Hurte and his wife, Daisy of Edmond, Leon Hurte Jr.; daughter, Darlene Kirby of Denton; close family members, Joyce and David Engle; granddaughter and caregiver, Rosa Wrenn. To also cherish her 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; five great-great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Thelma Patton; and numerous friends and family.
Her home going service will be held Tuesday, December 4, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Wilmer Cooper officiating and Reverend Abraham Walton delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
