Governor Bill Anoatubby has announced the appointment of C.M. Danny Wells administrator of the Chickasaw Nation Division of Education.
Wells has been employed with the Chickasaw Nation since 2004 and has served as director of the Chickasaw Nation Head Start program since 2005. Four Chickasaw Nation Head Start centers serve more than 260 three- and four-year-old children throughout the Chickasaw Nation.
“We are confident Danny Wells will do an excellent job leading the Division of Education,” Anoatubby said. “He understands the importance of our education programs and how critical they are to our people’s success. Education is a top priority, and he has the experience and expertise needed to continue to enhance the education of all Chickasaws.”
As Division of Education administrator, Wells will oversee child care, Head Start, education services, support programs and vocational rehabilitation.
“I am thankful for the opportunity Gov. Anoatubby has given me to serve as administrator of the Division of Education,” Wells said. “Being named as an administrator is very humbling for me. Under the leadership of Lisa John, the Division of Education has expanded its services and experienced a growth in the number of facilities. We plan to continue the quality services we now provide and look for ways we can enhance our educational programs and services.”
Prior to this appointment, Wells served as director of the Head Start program, manager of career and education, and director of adult education. Wells professional history includes years as Wells carrer in education began as an Oklahoma public school teacher. He taught agricultural classes, junior high and high school science and technology.
He earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Oklahoma State University. He has teaching certifications in agricultural education, science and technology and junior high and high school principal certifications.
Wells is also a licensed minister and serves as an elder at East Main Church of Christ, Stratford, Okla.
He and his wife, Betty, have three adult children and reside in Stratford.
