  • Funeral services for Lillie Bernice Sloan will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at the Vinita Avenue Church of Christ in Sulphur with Scott Hoover officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.
    Bernice was born April 12, 1926, in Seminole, Okla., to the late Grover and Maggie (Casteel) Hail. She died Monday, December 3, 2012, in Ardmore, at the age of 86 years 7 months and 21 day. Lillie and Franklin Pierre Sloan were married on Sept. 11, 1948, in Gardenville, Nev. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2004. Others preceding her in death, include three brothers, Hubert, Russell and Kenneth Hail.
    Bernice was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who spent her life caring for her family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and in earlier years, oil painting. Of all the enjoyments she found in her life, her family was the greatest. She loved spending time with each of them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lillie was a devoted member of the Vinita Avenue Church of Christ.
    Survivors include her three sons, Lynell Sloan and wife, Lois, Larry Sloan and wife, Trisha, both of Sulphur, and Randy Sloan and Donna of Ringling; eight grandchildren, Chris, Cody, Chad, Jason, Bridget, Josh, Lacey and Kristi; 15 great-grandchildren, Braelynn, Caden, Payton, Blake, Kelsey, Madison, Asa, Samuel, Jerritt, Jaxon, Jazmin, Kalie, Kerrington, Harley and Scarlet; as well as two brothers, Bill Hail and wife, Barbara and William Hail and wife, Judy; and one sister, Mary Casey and husband, Elmer.
    Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Stratton, Josh Sloan, Chad Sloan, Jaxon Stratton, Jerritt Larson and Andrew Ballenger.
    The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 this evening at the funeral home.
    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Vinita Avenue Church of Christ, 1113 W. Vinita, Sulphur, OK 73086.
