Services for Martha Lou Franklin, 86, of Marietta will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, December 10, 2012, in the First Baptist Church in Marietta with the Rev. Tommy Higle officiating.
Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta, Okla.
Mrs. Franklin was born September 22, 1926, in Ardmore, Okla., the daughter of Alex Parker and Mary Ann Zellner-Parker. She passed away Friday, December 7, 2012, at the Lake Country Nursing Home in Marietta.
Mrs. Franklin grew up in Ardmore where she graduated from Ardmore High School. She married Joe Franklin on January 15, 1947, in Ardmore. Mrs. Franklin worked for the telephone company for several years and later for Weight Watchers. She was a very devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Marietta where she enjoyed attending the Senior Adult Class and going on several of their bus trips to Branson and Nashville. Mrs. Franklin loved shopping with friends and listening to music on the radio. She especially loved the holiday season and watching Christmas specials on television. Many things brought her great joy, but perhaps spending time with her grandchildren was her greatest treasure.
Mrs. Franklin was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; three brothers; by two sisters; and a grandson, Matthew Franklin.
Mrs. Franklin is survived by two sons and their wives, Dan and Debra Franklin of Marietta, and Tim and Glenita Franklin of Marietta; four grandchildren, Sara Flanagan and husband, Dustin, Lacretia Doss and husband, Jackie, Bobby Durham and wife, Megan, and Macy Franklin; and by five great-grandchildren, Brookelyn Doss, Taylor Doss, Keley Doss, Miyah Franklin, and Mary Jean Durham.
Casket bearers will be Bud Barnes, Charlie Roberts, Kermit McKinney, John McBride, Dr. J.T. O'Connor, and Shane Norton.
