Local bikers are looking forward to a night of joy and merriment as plans have been finalized for the American Iron Riders Christmas Party. The party is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., Saturday night at the Starlite Ballroom. Proceeds from the party will be used to spread cheer to area youth as part of the AIR Christmas Shop with a Biker.
"We will ride our bikes to Walmart, meet the children and take them through the store," Geri Hayes, AIR member, said. "They get to choose gifts for themselves or others."
Hayes said the Iron Riders receive names of children from the Children's Shelter. There are around 30 children, which are able to take part in the event. The Iron Riders also distribute toys to children in the hospital and in the custody of the Department of Human Services.
Shop with a Biker is one of several fundraisers AIR sponsors to help underprivileged, abused and neglected children. Admission to the Christmas party is a $20 donation for singles and a $30 donation for a couple. An unwrapped toy for a boy or a girl is also part of the admission fee for the party, which will feature food and live music.
A $100 tattoo has been donated by Inkspot as a door prize. Inkspot has also donated two $300 tattoos, which will be raffled off for $10 chances. Proceeds from the raffle will go toward helping a family in need. The family has been pre-selected.
