  • A family visitation with military honors for Max Tilley will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, at the Craddock Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date.
    Max was born January 20, 1949, in Ada, Okla., to Haschal and Pauline Backus Jimmy. He passed from this life on December 9, 2012, in Ardmore, at the age of 63.
    He was a lifelong resident of this area and graduated from Sulphur High School class of 1968. After graduation, Max joined the Marines. When he returned, he and Sherry Weldon were married at the Lake Murray Chapel on December 26, 1970. He then enrolled and went to Okmulgee Tech. He went to work for Michelin as an electrician and retired from there after 38 years of service. Max enjoyed drinking coffee, sitting on his porch and giving his grandchildren rides on his tractor.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Haschal and Pauline; two brothers, Paul and Dale Tilley; and a sister, Eleanor Burton.
    Max is survived by his wife, Sherry of the home; sons, Sam Tilley and wife, Tracy of Ardmore, and Joe Tilley of McAlester, Okla.; sisters, Margaret Tilley of Boise, Idaho, and Mary Sue McGenty of Yukon, Okla.; brothers, Richard Tilley and wife, Gwen of Houston, Texas, David Tilley and wife, Connie of San Antonio, Texas, Herb Tilley and wife, Pat of Ft. Worth, Texas, Gary Tilley and wife, Linda of Meridian, Texas, Edward Tilley of Yukon, Okla., and Steve Tilley of Sulphur, Okla.; and grandchildren, Bailey and Cody.
