  • Betty Sue Blankenship, 81, of Cardinal Cove, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012, at her home in Cardinal Cove. She was born on February 9, 1931, in Carter County, Oklahoma, to the late Samuel Houston Hefner and Nellie Cleveland Chandler Hefner. Betty was raised in Wilson and married J.A.

  • Betty Sue Blankenship, 81, of Cardinal Cove, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012, at her home in Cardinal Cove. She was born on February 9, 1931, in Carter County, Oklahoma, to the late Samuel Houston Hefner and Nellie Cleveland Chandler Hefner. Betty was raised in Wilson and married J.A.
    Blankenship on May 12, 1947, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2002. She later lived in California before moving to Dickson where she lived most of her life. Betty has lived the past several years in Cardinal Cove. She was a foster parent for several years and she enjoyed painting, playing Canasta, she loved her fish, dogs and birds, and she was an animal lover.
    She is survived by: children, John Blankenship and wife, Vicki, Denison, Texas, Samuel Blankenship, Dickson, Oklahoma, Richard Blankenship, Dickson, Oklahoma, Hank Blankenship and wife, Laquita, Centralia, Missouri, Regina Eubanks, Longview, Texas, and Susan Morrow and husband, Tony, Longview, Texas; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Eddy Hefner, Tommy Hefner and Joe Hefner; and sister, May Gibbs.
    Casket bearers: Sam Blankenship Sr., Sam Blankenship Jr., Ty Blankenship, Dustin Morrow, Ryan Blankenship and Jesse Blankenship.
    Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Joseph Blankenship; five brothers, Carl, Sam, Herald, Roy and Doris Hefner; and two sisters, Ruth Williamson and Alvie Davenport.
    Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Watts Funeral Home, Kingston.
    Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, at the Watts Funeral Home, Kingston, Oklahoma. Leon Haas will officiate the services. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Kingston, Oklahoma. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
