Wanda Smith Coffey, 85, was born May 7, 1927, to the Reverend Lonnie and Louella Womack Smith in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She departed this life on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City after several years of declining health.
She was joined in marriage with Marlin Delbert Coffey in 1951 and was preceded in death by him in 2004 after 52 years of marriage. She and her husband made their home in Ardmore for more than 50 years.
Wanda worked for Steed and Steed accountants in Ardmore for a number of years and enjoyed working in her spacious yard. While she had no children of her own, she became a kind of grandmother to other younger family members.
Wanda was a very giving person and rarely overlooked a birthday or failed to come to the aid of a family member in need. Wanda accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1967 and was a loyal member of CrystalRock Cathedral in Ardmore.
She is survived by one sister, Wilma Spearman of Norman; and two brothers, Glen Smith of Newalla, and Carl D. Smith of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Darl Smith and Dewey Smith; and five sisters, Naomi Smith, Wynona Hunter, Laverne Smith, Velma Rouse and Icaphene Scroggins.
Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home in Ardmore, officiated by her longtime pastor, the Reverend Walt Spradling. Burial will follow in Hewitt Cemetery, Wilson, Oklahoma.
