Funeral services for Mrs. Dimple (Baker) Bossa Varnell, 85, of Duncan, is scheduled for 2 p.m Friday, December 14, 2012, at Graham Assembly of God Church with Pastors David Baker and J.R. Townley officiating. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery, north of Ringling. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
Dimple was born December 1, 1927, in Loco, to the late Mr. David Jeff Baker and Mrs. Ida Leona (Friels) Baker. She departed this life Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the Duncan Regional Hospital in Duncan, Okla.
She married Mr. Calvin Bossa in 1946 and then Mr. Homer Varnell in 1982.
Dimple believed women could do anything. She was a very successful oilfield trucking contractor for many years. She was named Woman Oklahoman Oilfield Trucker of the Year in 1985. She was a very faithful Christian and loving woman.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Jeff and Ida; brother, Harold Baker; sister, Retha Hines; and stepson, Freddy Varnell.
Survivors include her husband, Homer Varnell of the home; sons, Alan Bossa also of the home and Micah Bossa of Lawton; step-children, Homer Varnell Jr. and wife, Jane of Duncan, Linda Miller and husband, Bob of Comanche, and Billy Varnell and wife, Donna of Marlow; one granddaughter, Victoria Bossa; brothers, Hurshel Baker of Fox, and Hamp Baker of Ringling; sister, Rozella Pevehouse and husband, Carl of Ratliff City; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
Pallbearers are nieces, Tracy Voyles, Cindy Morris, Lana Dougherty, Cheryl Pevehouse, Tammy Townley, Jana Davis, Lori Bright, Tonya Horton and Melba Morse.
Family visitation will be from 6-7 this evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
