Joyce Worley has been selected as the official designer of Sunshine Industries, Inc. 2012 holiday card.
The local woman's design features a snowman and the words, "Happy Snow Day" and will appear on the cover of Sunshine's annual greeting. She also provided the inside text. Her signature appears on the back of the card.
Worley's design was selected by Sunshine's Board of Directors from more than 100 entries. The selection was made during the board's November meeting.
Worley recently moved from Wewoka to Ardmore. She and her family, three brothers and three sisters, are originally from Sulphur. For the past six months, Worley has worked for Southern Oklahoma Supported Employment, a branch of Sunshine. She is employed as a member of a road crew providing service to a variety of local businesses.
"I like my work, but I really enjoy days off during the holidays," she said. "Our whole family rents a bungalow in Sulphur at this time so we can all be together."
When asked about the inspiration for her winning card design, she said, "Everyone can celebrate this season with a snowman. I want everyone to have a happy and safe winter."
Sunshine Industries has solicited entries for their annual card design contest for 17 years.
Each winning entry is printed in full color, the artist adds the greeting in their own handwriting, and the work is credited with the artist's name.
Winning designers receive a gift certificate from a business of their choice and are given copies of the card with envelopes for friends and family. The card is sent each year at this time to more than 700 contributors and associates.
