In its final game before the holiday break, Murray State's women's basketball team held on for a 70-64 win against Independence College (Kan.) on Saturday.
MSC's Kaylie Baxter led all scorers with 23 points, including six 3-pointers, and Sierra Moore added 19 points for the Aggies, who will return to the court in January.
Eight of the team's 11 3-pointers came in the second half, as the Aggies kept pace with the surging Pirates. Danila Wallen-Moillo scored 20 of her 22 points in the second half to lead Independence. Murray State led 28-22 at halftime.
The win lifted Murray State to 2-0 against Independence this season. The Aggies defeated the Pirates 68-64 in overtime on Nov. 13 in Independence, Kan.
