Service for Margie Lance will be 1 p.m. today at Crossway First Baptist Church in Sulphur with the Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery.
Margie was born Jan. 7, 1934, in Sulphur, to the late Grady and Maude (Epps) Allen. She died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, in Ardmore, at the age of 78 years 11 months and 15 days. Margie and James Douglas “Jim” Lance were married on Oct. 23, 1955, in Gainesville, Texas.
Margie was a 1952 graduate of Sulphur High School. She spent her career working as a legal secretary. She worked 18 years in the District Attorney’s Office for Murray County before transferring into the Murray County Court C lerk’s Office where she retired after 12 years of service as Deputy Court Clerk. In her spare time, Margie enjoyed being outdoors in the sun, listening to music and dancing. Her favorite dance was the “Jitterbug” of which she mastered. She was a member of the Crossway First Baptist Church of Sulphur.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; son, James Lance; daughter, Kelly Lance, all of Sulphur; granddaughter, Kylie Elizabeth Lance of Brandon, Fla.; as well as, numerous, nieces, nephew and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and two sisters, Pauline Hill and Jean Britton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Frank Lance, Lance Timothy Lance, Butch Hill, Chad Hill, Glenn Ray Lance and Bill Lance Jr. Honorary bearers will be Dorothy Lasenberry, Tim Colbert, David Pittman, Jim Britt and Fob Jones.
