Memorial services for Mrs. Lois Faye Walker, 76, of Horizon City, Texas, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012, at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with the Rev. Terry Tolbert officiating.
Lois Faye Walker was born June 22, 1936, at Marietta, Oklahoma. She departed this life on November 1, 2012, in her home in Horizon City, Texas, at the age of 76.
Lois Faye attended elementary school at Wheeler and graduated from Rexroat High School in 1954. She attended college at East Central State University in Ada, Oklahoma, and later received her degree in Elementary Education at The University of Texas at El Paso.
Lois Faye taught third grade in The Ysleta Independent School District in El Paso, Texas, for many years before retiring due to ill health. She loved teaching and being around small children.
In addition to being a teacher, she was a talented singer and writer of poetry. One of her poems is still on display at the hospital where she underwent therapy.
She was preceded in death by her father, John D. Wright; and her mother, Rosie Myrine Henderson Wright.
Lois believed in God and was a member of the Episcopalian Church in Horizon City, Texas. She was a kind, compassionate lady who always thought well of her fellow man. She will always be lovingly remembered by her students, friends and family.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Gene Walker; her daughters, Jeannie Walker of Monterey, Calif., and Stella Walker of Plano, Texas; brother, Fred and wife, Nancy of Lone Grove; nephew, Chris and niece, Kim; special cousins, JoAnn Smithers and Carolyn Dees; and many other relatives and friends in Carter and Love Counties.
Lois Faye will be inurned in the Newport Cemetery between her father and mother at a future date. The family wishes to thank all of you in attendance today for your compassionate wishes.
