Services for Elizabeth Yvonne Fleming, 73, of Tomball, Texas, are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012, in the Chapel of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta, Okla., with the Rev. Dan Bullock officiating. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, will be under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Mrs. Fleming was born January 16, 1939, in Leedey, Okla., the daughter of Ralph Clayton and Mabel Modest Williams Tullis. She passed away Sunday, December 23, in The Heritage Retirement Community, Tomball.
After graduating from Marietta High School, Yvonne attended Business College in Oklahoma City, Okla. After business school and while working for a local insurance company, she then met and married Bobby Fleming, her husband of 45 years. After moving around the country with Bobby’s employment, the couple settled in Frisco, Texas, in 1983. During their time in Frisco, Yvonne cared for several children in their home over the years and volunteered in the nursery at First Baptist Church of Frisco. Yvonne so loved caring for children.
Yvonne also found a love for computers and decided to take continuing education classes to further develop her business skills in preparation for a return to the workplace. She returned to work as a secretary until Bobby retired in 1996, and they relocated to their dream retirement home in Magdalena, N.M. Yvonne served as church secretary for First Baptist Church in Magdalena for several years until the couple decided to move closer to their children. In 2006, they moved first to Bristow, Okla., where Yvonne busied herself spending time with her children and grandchildren. After Bobby’s death in 2007, Yvonne moved to Burgundy Place Retirement Center in Tulsa, Okla.
While at Burgundy, Yvonne and a group of special ladies spent every night playing dominoes or cards. Yvonne truly loved games and was always inviting anyone to play, friend, family or stranger. In 2011, Yvonne relocated to Tomball where she resided until her passing.
Throughout Yvonne’s life her greatest joys were serving her Lord, being a grandmother and greatgrandmother and playing games. If there was a game being played, you can bet she was in the midst of it.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Ralph and Mabel; and her husband, Bobby.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Belinda and John Howard of Waller, Texas, and Tracy and Alex Rodriguez of Plano, Texas; son, Waylon Payne of Austin, Texas; brother, Ralph W. Tullis of Marietta; grandchildren, Miranda and Johnny Fox, Travis Gentz, Whitney Howard, John Dylan Howard and Rene Rodriguez; and great-grandchildren, Reagan Elizabeth Gentz and Georgia Kate Fox.
