Funeral services for Betty Blanch Potts, 71, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gary Word, Bishop Clyde Hess and the Rev. Arlena Burnsworth officiating. Interment will follow in Lone Grove West Cemetery. A family visitation will be from 6 to 7 this evening at the Craddock Funeral Home.
Mrs. Potts was born January 31, 1941, in Cheek, Oklahoma, to J.C. and Mattie Blanch Mauldin Howard. She passed this life on Dec. 30, 2012, at her residence in Lone Grove.
She and the Rev. Leo Potts were married February 27, 1960, in Lone Grove, Okla. Betty was a member of the Faith Heritage Pentecostal Church of God where she wore many hats, including church administrator and Pastor’s wife. In her early ministry’s, she touched the lives of thousands of children with her dynamic teaching at junior youth camps in many states as well as her home church. Betty was a recipient of a degree in theology from The Institute of Jewish-Christian Studies.
She is survived by her loving husband, Leo Preston Potts of the home; a son, Larry Reed of Lake Kiowa, Texas; her daughter, Teresa Smothers of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; grandsons, Byron Reed and his wife, Gayla of Durant, Okla., Brian Reed and his wife, Kelly of Ardmore, and Levi Smothers and his wife, Chelsey of Trinidad, Colo.; and granddaughters, Niki Reed of Mesquite, Texas, and Delta Brown of Denton, Texas. She is survived by her great-grandsons, Kaden, Gage and Matthew Reed. She is also survived by sisters, Vida and husband, the Rev. C.W. Word of Mineral Wells, Texas, LaQuita and her husband, George Taylor of Lone Grove, and Barbara and husband, Ronnie Butler of Wilson, Okla.; brothers, Ferrel Howard and wife, Joyce of Lone Grove, and the Rev. Wayne Howard and wife, Berlene of Lone Grove, Okla.; and sistersin-law, Mildred Howard and Barbara Ann Howard of Lone Grove.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Charlene and brothers Bobby D. and J.B. Howard.
Serving as pallbearers will be Darrell Howard, Darren Howard, Gaylon Taylor, Mike Howard, Dickie Howard, Keith Howard and Donnie Howard.
Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Debord, Bill Grover, Melvin Grover and Dean Redmon.
