  • James Clyde “Jim” Guess Jr., age 75, of Da­vis, Okla., passed away on January 5, 2013, in Victoria, Texas. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thurs­day, January 10, 2013, in T he Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with Chaplain Therman “Snoopy ” Campbell officiating. Interment will fol­low in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore.

    Jim was born April 6, 1937, to James Clyde Guess Sr. and Hettie (Murphree) Guess in Oklahoma City, Okla. He married June Richardson on August 30, 1958, in Wynnewood, Okla.

    Jim was a graduate of Ardmore High School Class of 1955. He at­tended Oklahoma State University and earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science de­grees there. In 1961, he began teaching science at Wilson Schools. In 1963, he was challenged to de­velop a Vocational Agri­cultural Program which he taught until 1967. Jim was also involved in agri­cultural sales from 1968 to 1984 with Olin Corpora­tion and Kerr McGee. In 1985, Jim purchased Agri Products of Ardmore and continued to operate his business until his retire­ment in 2000. He was a member and officer of the Red River Rovers and Happy OK Wanderers RV groups. Jim’s favorite pastimes were his family and RVing. Jim was of the Baptist faith.

    Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Frank Guess.

    He is survived by his wife, June, of the home; two daughters, Malinda Browning and husband, Bill of Choctaw, Okla., and Brenda Harrison and husband, Keith of Davis, Okla.; granddaughters, Meghan Harms and hus­band, Landon of Weath­erford, Okla., Kaitlin Har­rison of Davis, Okla., and Katie Browning of Choc­taw, Okla.; grandsons, James Harrison of Davis, Okla., and Ben Browning of Choctaw, Okla.; sister, Jean Prichard, of Hous­ton, Texas; niece, April Prichard of Irving, Texas; and nephew, Bret Prichard of Santa Monica, Calif.

    Those wishing to give donations may make them in Jim’s name to the Okla­homa Baptist Children’s Home of Madill, Oklaho­ma, 13976 Anthony Lane, Madill, OK 73446.

    Family visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore, Okla.
