Charlene Idleman, age 88, of Ardmore, Okla. passed away on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with Pastor Jimmy May and Pastor Terry Tolbert officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla.
Charlene was born on Sept. 30, 1924 to Charlie and Tennie (Ellis) Stanley at Addington, Okla. She married Sherman Idleman on May 15, 1942 at Healdton, Okla. A homemaker, Charlene was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Ardmore. Her hobbies included arts and crafts, traveling, and playing cards with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sherman. Five sisters; Nellie Bell Scarbrough, Myrna Beatrice Fields, Tommy Ethyl Newcomb, Cecile Mae Thompson, and Alma Fae McKay, and two brothers; Charles Alfred Stanley and Claude Sellars Stanley.
Charlene is survived by sons; Derral Idleman and wife, Pat, of Bethany, Okla. and Jerry Idleman and wife, Kaye, of Oakland, Okla. Daughter, Sharon Haines and husband, Alan, of Oklahoma City, Okla. Sister, Oma Dee Lewallen, of Elk City, Okla. Five grandchildren; Karen Carrington, Brian Idleman, Micheal Idleman, Stacey Haines, and Monica (Haines) Johnson, and ten great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Idleman, Micheal Idleman, Brian Johnson, Cary Carrington, Derek Carrington, Christopher Idleman, and Dylan Idleman. Honorary bearers will be Allison Evers, Austin Hawkins, Jake Idleman, Keller Idleman, Kayla Carrington, and Brinlee Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, Jan. 15, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Griffin~Hillcrest.
