DAVIS — The city council has scheduled a special meeting on Jan. 28 to discuss an interim city manager to step in for Roger Pulley. Pulley has resigned to take a position with the Department of Commerce. His last day will be Jan. 25. The council will also make a decision on how to proceed with filling the position on a permanent basis.
The council had few other matters to weigh in on during its monthly meeting. A resolution was approved calling for an election for council seats. The seats in Ward 1 and Ward 2 will be up for election. Darryl McCurtain is the incumbent in Ward 1 and Stan Jones is the Ward 2 incumbent. Both are for four-year terms.
Seats in Ward 3 and the At-Large will also go to the polls for the remainder of the term. Melvin Watts sits in Ward 3 and Brett Knight holds the At-Large seat.
Pulley said discussion on the status of the water plant project took place. The engineer's analysis on the project is things are going well but the contractor is about a month behind schedule, Pulley said. The reason is manpower, but the council was told the engineering firm overseeing the project feels it will be back on schedule.
The council also discussed the Turner Falls Park. Currently work is being done on streets and roads in the park. Clean up of brush is also taking place at the castles. Pulley said the park would move a ticket booth to accommodate the larger RV's entering the park.
