  • Defense helped Murray State's men run away from Seminole State College 84-62 on Monday night.

Tied 32-32 at the half, the Aggies came out strong in the second outscoring Seminole 52-30.

“I think we played really well in the second half,” coach Randy Rutherford said. “The first half we didn’t do the things that we’ve talked about over this break. In the second half when they finally started to do what we’ve worked on, we got a lot of turnovers that created a lot of easy baskets thatmade the offense a little bit better than it usually is.”

Gary Inglett led the Aggies with 21 points and 10 rebounds, Trai Jordan put up 20 points and eight rebounds, and Dvonte Davis had seven points, five steals and eight assists. Tim Smallwood Jr. also had 20 points for the Aggies.

Inglett and Clark are getting playing time after being ineligible in the fall due to transfer. Inglett, a 2011 Plainview alumnus, transferred froRedlands College, where he helped his team advance to the final 16 of the National Junior College Athletic Association National Tournament.

Rutherford says having them on the court has been boost for the team.

“Having Gary and D’angelo really makes us a deeper and more athletic team,” Rutherford said. “If we can continue to get Tim and Dvonte to play a little bit better in the second half, get Gary to play the way he plays and my bench to sustain what they are doing ... we have a chance to be really good.”
