  • Memorial services for Gary A. Gosdin will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the First Baptist Church. Dr. Alton Fannin will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.
    Gary was born February 9, 1936, in Durant to Clarence and Juanita Pope Gosdin. He died on January 15, 2013, in an Oklahoma City hospital following an extended illness. Gary was married to the former Kaye Braden on June 9, 1957, in Oklahoma City.
    Gary was a graduate of Healdton High School. He received his Psychology degree from the University of Oklahoma and completed his master's degree in Public Relations in 1970. While at OU, he served as drum major for the "Pride of Oklahoma" marching band.
    He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. During his military career, he served four years working in the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Gary was the recipient of four bronze service stars and retired from the Air Force in 1983 as a Lt. Colonel. Following his retirement from the Air Force, the family moved to Ardmore. He recently retired as Business Administrator of the First Baptist Church after 13 years of service.
    He was an active member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee, Deacon and Sunday School Director of Senor Adult 2 Department, as well as chairman of several committees.
    Survivors include his wife, Kaye, of the home; two sons, Ron Gosdin and his children, Kalie and Tyler, Edmond, and Tim Gosdin and wife, Julie and their children, Kelsey and Sam, Oklahoma City; daughter, Lynn Geist and husband, Garyl and their children, Conner, Caden, Lillie and London, Norman.
    He was preceded in death by his parents.
    Memorials may be made to the Gary Gosdin Falls Creek Fund, First Baptist Church, 225 1 Ave. SW, Ardmore, OK 73401.
    Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 this evening at the funeral home.
