MARIETTA — Services for Robert C. Thompson of Falconhead, Burneyville, Okla., will be at 2 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2013, in the Chapel of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta, Okla., with the Rev. Francis Bartley officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Born September 19, 1925, in Wilson, Okla., the son of Farris M. and Irma Killough Thompson, Mr. Thompson passed away Tuesday, January 22, in Mercy Hospital Ardmore at the age of 87.
A resident of Falconhead for the past 35 years, Robert had been employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone as a cable splicer for 38 years. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Robert and Jo Ella Morgan were married at Falconhead on October 20, 1989. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed yard work. As a young man, Robert liked to hunt quail and dove and also fish. He was a member of Falconhead Christian Fellowship and served as an usher for many years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Betty Thompson; and brother, Howard Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ella Thompson of the home; the mother of his children, Joan Dorman of Lawton, Okla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Stephanie Thompson of Granbury, Texas, and Bobby and Kim Thompson of Cache, Okla.; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Bret Stubbs of New Boston, Texas; three stepsons, Dennis Lee, Freddie Higgins of Burneyville, Okla., and Dee and Sherry Higgins of Marietta; stepdaughter, Shari Milor of Marietta; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Pat Thompson of Perry, Okla.; 14 grandchildren, Jason Arndt, Jenny Ardwin, Cristopher Thompson, Seth Thompson, Kelly Matthews, Whitney Thompson, Daniel Rupert, Cody Higgins, Brian Mullens, Blake Milor, Lauren Allen, Bobbi Higgins, Joel Milor and Caleb Story; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Serving as bearers will be grandsons, Jason Arndt, Cristopher Thompson, Seth Thompson, Daniel Rupert, Cody Higgins, Blake Milor and Joel Milor. Honorary bearer is Dr. J.T. O'Connor.
Viewing will be from 2 until 9 this evening and until service time on Friday.
