Funeral services for Joe Ray Vaughn, 64, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday evening at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home, Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Joe was born to Marvin Jesse Louis and Elizabeth Lee (Blanton) Vaughn on February 7, 1948, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on January 22, 2013, at his Ardmore residence.
Joe had lived in Ardmore his entire life and was a graduate of Ardmore High School in 1966. He retired from the Michelin Tire Company as a S.I. Technician. Joe enjoyed his retirement, and was often working outside his home and making frequent trips to visit his daughters and grandchildren, whom adored their "Pops." Joe loved to hunt and fish, especially with his brothers and nephews, and was always quick to laugh. He liked to travel across the United States on motorcycles with his family and friends and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ardmore. Joe was described by his friends as the "kindest man I've ever known" and was always willing to help a friend in need.
His parents and three brothers, Jesse, John and David Vaughn, preceded Joe in death.
He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Willeford and her husband, Jason of Norman, Oklahoma, and Elizabeth Johnson and husband, Brandon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Joseph Benjamin Willeford, Jones David Willeford and Anne Elizabeth Willeford, all of Norman, Oklahoma; mother of his children, Debra Vaughn of Norman, Oklahoma; brothers, Wayne Vaughn and wife, Anita, and Richard Vaughn and wife, Tammy, all of Ardmore, Oklahoma; sisters, Peggy Myers, Nancy Summers and husband, Bill, Betty Muncrief and husband, Arnold and Phyllis Julian and husband, Harold, all of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Anita Vanbebber and husband, Jerry of Norman, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Casket bearers will be Rick Norton, Shelton Burkhart, Frankie Vaughn, Shannon Boatman, David Conger and Doug Acox.
