Robert Bruce "Bob" Harris passed away Tuesday evening, January 22, 2013, at his rural Love County residence after an extended illness. He was born January 5, 1935, at Maud, Oklahoma, to the late Ralph B. and Thelma (Cookerly) Harris.
He and the former Patti Johnston were married February 29, 1960, and would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary this year.
A retired hotel manager, he opened and operated the first Holiday Inn in Ardmore. Bob was a graduate of the Chicago Arts Institute; he enjoyed art and spending time outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Patti and their three little Chihuahuas of the home; three daughters, Noelle Harris of Ardmore, Regina Harris and Mark Petersen, The Colony, Texas, and Rhonda Holderman and her husband, Carl, Placitas, New Mexico; a brother, Tom Harris and his wife, Jeany, Cushing, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Carol Webster and her husband, Al, Drumright, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Sonny Johnston and wife, Angie, Cushing, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents; a brother, Jim Harris; sister, Jo An Lynch; and a beloved dog, 'Leonard' preceded him in death.
A time of visitation and support for family and friends will be from 6 to 7 this evening at the funeral home. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home conducted by Pastor Sonny Johnston.
