  • Carter County Sheriff's Department criminal investigators launched a murder investigation Saturday afternoon, just 26 days into the new year.
Sheriff Ken Grace said Jeremy Kildow's body was discovered around 2 p.m. in a field located at the intersection of State Highway 53 and Butler Road near Springer.
"A passerby noticed him lying in the field and called us," Grace said from the scene.
The sheriff said it appeared the Ardmore man had been stabbed multiple times. His body was sent to the state Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy and an official cause of death determination.
By mid evening Saturday the sheriff labeled the murder as "still under investigation."
However, he confirmed investigators were working what may be a major link to Kildow's death.
"Deputies did respond to a domestic disturbance at a trailer house (where Kildow was residing) near here (field where the body was discovered) between 12:30 and 1 a.m. this morning," Grace said, adding "persons of interest" were being interviewed.
Investigators confirmed late Saturday no arrests had been made in the case.
At the time of his death Kildow was wanted on outstanding warrants issued a month ago for failure to appear in Carter County District Court on charges of possession of a firearm after former conviction and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The charges in both cases were the result of Ardmore Police Department investigations.
Court records also show the 27-year-old victim had been charged twice in 2008 with domestic abuse/assault and battery. Both of those cases ended with the charges dismissed.
