David A. "Al" Lehman, of Lexington, Okla., passed away on Thursday evening, January 24, 2013, with his seven children by his bedside at Purcell Municipal Hospital. Graveside services, under the direction of Griffin-Hillcrest, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2013, at Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, Okla., with Dana Burchett officiating,
Al was born on November 22, 1922, to Joseph and Rosa Lee Lehman at Konowa, Okla. He worked for Lone Star Gas Company in Maysville, Pauls Valley, Purcell, and Marietta. After 32 years of service, he retired to Marietta. Al and his wife, Cora Mae, raised their children in the Catholic faith at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Pauls Valley. The couple celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1993.
He loved being with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family reunions always brought a large gathering with his seven children and 98 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed putting out a big garden each year, going to garage sales, and grass mowing duties with his nearby neighbors. Al has lived in Lexington with his son, David, and daughter-in-law, Christine, for the past several years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Cora Mae, in 2000.
Al is survived by his seven children: Lottie and Kenneth Wood of Pauls Valley, Patty Bryant of Shawnee, Robert and Theresa Lehman of Shawnee, Mary and David Burge of Marietta, David and Christine Lehman of Lexington, George and JoAnn Lehman of Marietta, and Chris and Cathy Lehman of Ardmore; 98 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Colten Lambdin, Floyd Lehman, Billy Burge, Steven Wood, Kenny Wood, and Dirk Wolf.
A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., this evening, January 27, 2013, at Griffin-Hillcrest, Ardmore, Okla.
