Man arrested for assault and robbery

A 52-year-old Ardmore man was arrested early Sunday after he allegedly assaulted and robbed a man inside his B Street SW residence.

The victim told officers he was asleep inside his residence when Darryl Newberry entered the house without his permis­sion, assaulted him and then took $300 cash from his wallet before fleeing.

APD Patrol Division of­ficers found Newberry a short time later in the unit block of North Washing­ton Street. Newberry was arrested without incident and booked into the Carter County Detention Center pending charges.

Reports are expected to be turned over to the dis­trict attorney’s office today for review and the filing of formal charges.
